2007 Lappa’s - Winemaker’s notes
The 2007 Lappa’s, our Napa Valley red wine, is just the second vintage from Heibel Ranch Vineyards, and the best so far! It’s an unconventional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah harvested from our certified organic estate vineyard on the family ranch in Pope Valley. The vineyard only yielded two tons, so I decided to blend it with a couple barrels of Cabernet Franc and single barrel of Syrah. The resulting wine is a surprisingly balanced combination of Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon & Franc), California’s first plantings (Zinfandel & Petite Sirah), and a touch of the Rhone (Syrah). The nose is bright and clean; dominated by rich black fruit and subtle white pepper spice. The palate possesses an elegant and supple texture full of fleshy black currant accentuated with notes of licorice and fresh mocha. A lengthy and balanced finish expresses juicy and soft tannins approachable now, yet ensures enjoyment for many years to come. With only 188 cases produced, be sure to stock your cellar soon, as this release will be gone before you know it…

Recommended Food Pairing
Lappa’s will pair beautifully with a hearty barbequed tri-tip or a tender filet. On my tours, we enjoy it with my favorite picnic basket: Salametti, aged Asiago cheese, cured green olives and a fresh baguette.
